MONTHLY BYRON BAY CLINICS AND WORKSHOPS ARE LISTED ON THE  www.facebook.com/HeartfeltHorsemanshipAustralia PAGE

The overview of all clinics is as follows:

CORE SUBJECTS

  • Anatomy and physiology of the horse

  • Psychology of the horse

  • Biomechanics

  • Horse Husbandry…health and welfare, Paddocking and nutrition, care of the feet, pasture management, veterinary concerns and etc

  • Saddle fit

  • Games

  • Work at liberty

  • Work in hand on the cordeo

  • Riding; bitless, or cordeo only, techniques, rider position and clarification of riding styles.

Please note, driven horses are catered for…please enquire.

The groups are always limited in number to allow in-depth discussion and exploration of the subjects and to allow the horses whatever time they may need, particularly if learning something new. The small number also allows members to develop friendships and a support network through that…an important thing when working in ways that are not orthodox! All scientific materials are discussed in laymans terms …you will be surprised at what you may learn! Many things answer themselves when you get the right info!

  NEW SOUTH WALES

Open clinics are run in the same way except that we are  of course  looking at things in a slightly more adult way...although we try to retain the childlike aspects that serve the horse. Again, any level of experience is welcome but it is recommended children attend the Kids Workshops.

 BAREFOOT TRIMMING

DATE TO BE CONFIRMED

We welcome Peter Laidely, world reknown barefoot trimmer! Over the weekend we will be looking at the whole horse and focusing on the  handling of the horse and of course, his feet. Peter will present to you (in the easiest-to-understand presentation I have ever seen) on the form and function of the hoof and you will leave the weekend able to trim your own horse (if this is what you wish!)and armed with a clear understanding of your horses feet. Peter approaches his horses to attend to their feet in a way that is a little unorthodox...women especially will love it, it takes the ouch out of the back and relieves you of at least half the sweat and work of doing the feet the traditional way!

It is not possible to just focus completely on one part of the horse. If the feet of the horse are neglected, that will affect his way of going (and soundness!)...this will then affect his performance. Not only that, the feet and balance of the horse are reflected in his teeth too! So you see,  we need to develop a 'spherical' way of looking at the horse which encompasses his whole being, both physically, mentally and energetically. We will be doing just that over these weekends. For more info please call Janene 0421 999 413

WORKING BITLESS

VENUE: Mt Wallace Equestrian Centre

Cost: $300 for the weekend, with horse (fencesitters $100 for the weekend.)

Date: 28-29th April

An introduction to working bitless, this 2 day clinic will suit those who would like to learn how to work their horses bitless but so far haven't been confident to try, or, those who are working bitless and would like to develop collection in the horse. As this work is mutli-disciplinary, it doesn't matter what your discipline is, or whether you even have one!

Horses are harmed when ridden without a certain level of collection and also, of course, when ridden bitted. There are many reasons why we should not use bits. This clinic will explain all of that, and we'll look at the way the horse is put together and how he needs to move. You will learn how to acheive that. There will be work at liberty with your horse and we will explore the many exercises that can be used to develop strength in your horse.

Please use the form below for enquiries or call Janene, 0421 999 413.

TRICK TRAINING!

Venue: Mt Wallace Equestrian Centre

Cost:$300 with horse for the weekend.

Date: TBA but coming soon! (March/April)

This clinic will lay the foundation for you to begin teaching tricks with your horse. Learn what your horse is built to do and how to train him to create strength, while engaging his mind and having some fun! Not all horses are suited for all movements for various reasons, actually, you could potentially harm some horses by doing certain tricks, or just teaching them too early. We will look at each horse individually and assess what can be taught, and over the weekend we will learn how to teach those movements. A lot of these 'tricks' are not just tricks...they are movements designed to build strength or to supple your horse, they are valuable tools. So build your arensal of 'training' tools and join us on a fun weekend of trick training! BBQ to finish!

Some 'tricks' we will cover and show: bow, spanish walk, pedastal, rearing, lie down, sitting, picking up things...bear in mind this clinci is NOT going to train all (or potentially any!) of these into your horse over the weekend. Things take time, patience, and care. There will be discussion of other more complicated tricks too, and of the ones mentioned we will clearly talk about the 'how to', but your horses cannot be expected to just 'do it' in a day or two. Some will of course...but the biggest part of trick training is developing the horse, at the horse's pace, whatever that is...this clinic is to share that knowledge with you...and you will take that knowledge home and continue work with your horses. Follow up help is available.

Problem solving will also be an element in this clinic.
